Atlanta

For the millions of people who live there, Atlanta is the capital of the Deep South, and has a special place in the hearts of people in this part of the country. It is a major commercial and historic center, as well as being a great place for visitors who want to enjoy exploring the city and surrounding area at their own pace in order to discover the many fantastic attractions that are accessible nearby.

Although it is one of the most important cities in the USA in terms of its influence and culture, Atlanta was relatively undiscovered by international tourists until the 1996 Summer Olympic games thrust it onto the international scene, and allowed more people to discover the highlights of the city for themselves.

As the largest and most commercially important city in the southern states of the USA, Atlanta is the home to many major corporations, most notably Coca Cola and Delta Air Lines, and many of the people who travel to the city do so on business. This means that the actual city center of Atlanta is a place that is primarily about doing business. A number of conference centers and business class hotels are available in amongst the forest of glass covered sky scrapers that dominate the skyline of the city.

Sadly, despite the long history of the city and its cultural importance in the country, there is little to see in terms of older buildings thanks to their destruction at the end of the Civil War. Thankfully, if you want to get a taste of the past, there are plenty of restored plantation houses to visit in the rolling Georgia countryside within easy reach of Atlanta on a driving holiday around the region.

Thanks to great entertainment, a wide range of activities for people of all ages to enjoy in the city, and plenty of great sights to see during a visit, Atlanta is one of the most exciting and interesting cities that you can possibly visit, and offers plenty for visitors to enjoy from history and culture through to entertainment and theme parks. So no matter what your interests are, when it comes to Atlanta, you will find what you are looking for.
